Barbaresco is situated in the Piedmont region of Italy in the north of the country, and is produced using the indigenous Nebbiolo grape. It was granted Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) status in 1966 and Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita status 1980. Barbaresco is one of the most famous and prestigious wines produced in Italy.
