  Somontano is an exceptional region in the higher reaches of Aragon and is home to Bodegas Pirineos which was created in 1964 with the objective of bringing together the 500 viticulturists who had started planting vines at that time. They quickly realized that the microclimate ?at the foot of the mountain? (the translation of the word Somontano) was remarkable for viticulture. The cool climate means that the production of white and rosé wines is particularly successful in this region.
