Château d'Angludet has been the Sichel family home since 1961. Dating back to the 12th century, it is one of the oldest wine estates in the Médoc, its name referring to Bertrand d'Angludet, knight, nobleman and owner of the property in 1150. Situated on a plateau of Garonne gravel, overlooking the Gironde estuary. Its terroir of gravel-sand soil improves drainage in the soil, a key factor in increasing concentration, finesse and elegance in the final wines. Managed today by Benjamin Sichel, Angludet's 32-hectare AOC Margaux vineyard is planted with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. The relatively high proportion of this last variety requires great care and attention but brings a rewarding and distinctive depth and richness to the wine.
