Gaston Huet sadly died several years ago but his son in law, Noel Pinguet, carries on his work and, apart from the addition of a pneumatic press, in the 1980's, his methods. This quote from their web-site says it all - "In modern agriculture, with the race on for so-called viability and for ever-more intensive productivity, the use of chemicals is constantly increasing. However, the use of chemical weedkillers, insecticides, acaricidal pesticides and systemic compounds (which penetrate into the plant's circulatory system) completely destroys the balance of the soil and the environment." They have been organic for many years and now work biodynamically. This dedication to principals of Rudolph Steiner underscores all that Noel does. This is the the most famous domaine in Vouvray and deserves its position by producing consistently top class wines year on year.
