    Red Wine
This extremely attractive Pinot comes from the largest, privately owned vineyard in New Zealand. The area was deemed unfit for vines, but single-handedly and with great foresight, Peter Yealands re-profiled the land, terraced slopes and filled in ravines, and now has half of his 1000 hectares planted to vineyards. More importantly, the quality of their wines is commensurate with the attention to detail employed in the vineyards and winery, and the cool climate of the South Island just enhances the production of top quality Pinot fruit. The low rainfall, high levels of sunshine plus the fact that this is one of the windiest stretches of Marlborough, combined with the rugged terrain and rich minerality of the soil, are all factors that intensify the flavours of Peter?s Pinot. Winemaker Tamra Washington puts around 30% of this into new, French oak and to produce a wine with luscious, sweet red fruit with violets, red berries and spice, finishing with silky tannins and a savoury finish.
